Better than SAT's, ACT's, expensive tutors, and even my top 100 words is the simple act of reading in a curious enough way that you actually "look up" the definition of words you do not recognize. I love the iPad and the kindle and apps that let me quickly highlight a word to find the definition. I find myself using it quite a bit, especially when reading some of the old classics. It's quick; it's easy, and it makes a difference in your understanding of the book you are reading--and for all future encounters you will have with relatively obscure words.

There will be a test of some sort next week.
