A Slice of Life
I was walking along an old stone wall up in New Hampshire and ran across the camp owner’s four year old son, Tyler: “Fitzy, check this out—quick, come see! A SNAKE…”
So I ran over and Tyler told me the whole story: He and EJ found the snake and when they tried to catch it, the snake slithered into the stone wall—“…and there it is.”
So I spent a good ten minutes with EJ and Tyler peering into the crevices between moss covered granite boulders looking for the tell-tale flick of a garner snakes tongue and listening to Tyler telling the story time and time again.
It was a very short story, but for Tyler, it was certainly worth telling—and one I could listen to many times before even a hint of boredom settled in.
The not so obvious moral of my own story here is that blog entries do not need to be long and perfectly formed writing pieces. A blog entry can be what I call “a slice of life” entry—an entry that might just be a picture and a few words to show and describe something worth remembering, and if it is worth it to you (and it should be) it will be worth it to all of us to share this slice of life with each other.
Writing about a slice of life is fun, and quick, and memorable.
And that’s a good way to start the day
